In a new feature for its mobile app, IG now enables traders to view a preview of a potential position when placing a trade.

Spread betting brokers IG Group Holdings plc have announced that a new feature has been added to mobile charts, in an aim to further enhance the trading experience every time you place a new deal.

Now, when placing a trade, traders can see a preview of their position. On mobile, the preview appears when you interact with the buy/sell option whilst viewing the charts.

The company expressed its belief that the addition of this feature would be useful to some of its clients, but there may be some who find it to be a little too much visual noise to process. For this reason, IG has provided an option to deactivate the preview feature from the ‘Show’ menu.

At this time, the new feature is only available in the mobile app, but IG has explained that work is in progress on a port to bring it over to the new trading platform on the web.

The announcement of this enhancement of the charting capabilities available in the mobile app follows IG’s termination of the offer of some applications. A few days ago, the company confirmed that it would no longer be offering the trading application for the Apple Watch. This decision came more than two and a half years after the app’s launch, and was generally attributed to weak demand from the IG clientele.

On the topic of charts, IG’s new web platform is continuing to add features to meet the needs of fans of technical analysis. October saw the introduction of ‘Indicator’ alerts, which can be added through the ‘Alerts’ tab while viewing a chart. Back in August, the platform began offering traders the capability to use up to 8 Moving Averages. And in May, IG introduced Fibonacci extensions after a flood of requests from clients.

Essentially, IG continues to show its commitment to having variety between the different trading platforms it offers. It also shows its continuing mission to optimising the user experience, particularly by listening to client feedback to inform decisions. The latest mobile charts feature is likely to go down well with traders.
